The Bowed Back of a Question Mark

Q uestions are part of life even for the sincere Christ follower.
Those questions can reveal our demands.
Answers are our right.
All the whys conspire to drain our lifeblood.
And the light of trust dims in our eyes.
But sometimes the faithfulness of Jesus spills out onto our lives so that a question mark straightens its bowed back and transforms into an exclamation point.
God’s faithfulness turns our doubt to joy.
Our confusion to peace.
Our questions to hope.
Sometimes God answers our questions with an exuberant surprise.
We didn’t see it coming, and His answer satisfies us.
Now it makes sense.
We get it.
Other times those questions no longer matter.
We’ve outgrown them.
Even through difficultly, those questions fade away into a life filled with wonder.
Overwhelmed by God’s generous grace.
Yet sometimes we live with those questions for the rest of our lives.
As we wait to be clothed in forever.
There, our questions are finally met with answers.
Or perhaps sleep the eternal sleep of irrelevance.
